Background

From the outside, the Park Hill Apartment complex seemed like a nice place to live. But inside, tenants told a different story. More than one hundred tenants sued their landlord, citing slum-like living conditions. Allegations included leaking ceilings, rat infestations, dangerous electrical defects and toxic mold growing in apartments, making residents sick.

Public Good PR generated a San Francisco Chronicle exclusive on the case, and the morning the article appeared, a press conference was held at the apartment complex. Eleven Bay Area TV stations, two radio stations and five newspapers covered the story. Each reported on tenants' mold-induced health problems as well as on the unfair business practices of the Park Hill Apartment owner. The extensive media coverage highlighted the plaintiffs’ lawyers and put pressure on the landlord to settle the case.
