Background
The James Irvine Foundation, one of California's largest foundations, drafted a report aimed at highlighting the significant disparities in per-capita giving among the different geographic centers in California. The report showed that residents in coastal cities received more than 100% more per capita in philanthropic activity than residents of the inland empire and the central valley.

Promoting Philanthropic Equity Throughout California: A Report by The James Irvine Foundation

Severn Williams Media was brought in by Full Court Press to assist with the campaign. We conducted a detailed media audit to help identify and target reporters covering philanthropy throughout California before launching a successful campaign to secure media coverage of the report findings. We also coordinated local spokespeople around the state to ensure that reporters were able to easily contact relevant sources in a timely manner.

The report’s findings were covered in dozens of publications, including the San Francisco Chronicle, Fresno Bee and Modesto Bee, as well as philanthropic publications, business weeklies, and on TV and radio news programs.
