Severn Williams
For 20 years Severn Williams has produced media campaigns
raising public awareness of important social issues. Since
founding Severn Williams Media in 2000, Severn has helped
give voice to a wide variety of organizations and messages.
His work with Earth 911, Pets
911, and AMBERalert.com - all subsidiaries of Global Alerts,
LLC - has raised the visibility of these organizations and
helped them to establish public credibility after a transfer
of company ownership. Severn's recent successful media outreach
campaigns include raising visibility for the plight of farm
workers in the wake of the January 2007 California crop freeze
on behalf of the James Irvine Foundation and educating the
public about the dangers of the heart medication Plavix on
behalf of San Francisco-based law firm Hersh and Hersh.
In 2001-2002, Severn served
as a key member of the strategy team for a $2 million public
education campaign to prevent youth violence, funded by a
grant from The California Wellness Foundation to San Francisco-based
i.e. communications. At strategy and communications consulting
firm Staton-Hughes, he helped elect Democratic candidates
to office, represented labor unions to the media, and developed
media strategies for non-profit organizations.
Severn worked with celebrities
and media executives to incorporate environmental themes into
TV shows and feature films at the Hollywood-based Environmental
Media Association. He produced celebrity-featured public service
announcements for the U.S. Environmental Hotline, and in 1996-1997
he directed the nationwide YES Tour, a multimedia show educating
youth across America about protecting the environment.
